Abstract
Objective:To explore special iconographic features in cases with AIDS complicated by pulmonary tuberculosis and its relativity to the CD4T lymphocytes.
Materials:and Methods:A retrospective analysis was carried out on the display of chest X-rays of cases with late stage AIDS complicate by pulmonary tuberculosis (n=26 cases) and patients with simple pulmonary tuberculosis (n=60 cases) and results of examination of the CD4T lymphocytes.
Results:(1) Results of the chest plates revealed that:patients with AIDS complicated by pulmonary tuberculosis showed presence of a higher number of light flaky and blurring shadows
than those with simple pulmonary tuberculosis (53.8% vs,8.3%;P<0.001) with more military tuberculosis (23.1% vs.5%,P<0,05),enlarged intrathoracic lymph nodes (34.6% vs 8.3%;p<0.001) as well as presence of extra-pulmonary tuberculous processes (23.1% vs. 3.3%;p<0.05);while revealing less number of lesions appearing in the upper lung field or in the apices of the lungs.(23.1 vs. 76.7%;p<0.001),presence of more parenchymatous changes or augmented shadows of uneven densities (11.5% vs. 71.7%;p=0.001),accompanied by shadows of cavitation 7.7% vs. 30%;p=0.005);however,no significant difference was found in occurrence of hydrothorax in both the two groups (11.5% vs. 20%;p>0,05).(2) Results from examination of the CD4T lymphocytes revealed that:relative numbers of CD4T lymphocytes in patients suffering from AIDS complicated by pulmonary tuberculosis and that with simple pulmonary tuberculosis were 4.99±6.40% and 65.3±15.2% respectively;in 15 out of the 26 cases of AIDS patients complicated by pulmonary tuberculosis showing a CD4T lymphocytic count <50/ul suffered all from atypical pulmonary tuberculosis,in 4 with their count of 50/ul~100/ul 3 suffered from atypical pulmonary tuberculosis while in cases with their CD4T lymphocytic count was between 100/ul ~200/ul (n=4) and >200/ul (n=2),numbers of atypical tuberculosis were 2 and zero respectively. |
