I nitial Research of Carotid Sinus Nerve Blockade and Its Possibility of Application to Carotid Angioplasty and Stenting

Abstract
Objective:To evaluate the role of carotid sinus nerve blockade in prevention and treatment of hemodynamic instability caused by carotid sinus stimulation.
Method:Observe (1)changes of blood pressure(BP) and heart rate(HR) after carotid sinus nerve simulated blockade(group A1),unilateral blockade(group A2) and bilateral blockade(group A3),(2)influence of carotid sinus stretching stimulation on BP after carotid sinus nerve simulated blockade(group B1) and blockade(group B2),(3)influence of carotid sinus nerve simulated blockade(group C1) and blockade(group C2) on hypotension caused by carotid sinus stretching stimulation. Result BP had no significant change in group A1 and A2(P>0.05;P>0.05),but rised significantly and transiently in group A3(In 10 minutes all P<0.01). HR had no significant change in the three group(All P>0.05). Every stimulation could lead to BP downfall in group B1(At all stimulating time points P<0.01),but could not in group B2 in 60-90 minutes after blockade(All P>0.05). After blockdae or simulated blockade,hypotension had lasted for 17 minutes in group C1(All P<0.05),but smoothed away immediately in group C2(All P>0.05).
Conclusion:Carotid sinus nerve unilateral blockade has no significant influence on hemodynamics of normal rabbits but has reliable preventional and therapeutic role on hemodynamic instability caused by carotid sinus stimulation.
